 Crime of Passion: Three Men Forcibly Deported from Saudi Arabia for Being “Too Handsome”

Photographer, actor and poet Omar Borkan Al Gala from Dubai was one of the men kicked out of Saudi Arabia because he is ridiculously good looking. Saudi Arabian men feared that these men will steal their wives' hearts if they let them stay in the country ;)  According to Arabic language Elaph newspaper, the UAE nationals were taking part in a heritage event in the capital Riyadh on Sunday when they were thrown out by Saudi’s religious police. 

TV Emirates reported recently that three United Arab Emirates nationals were deported from Saudi Arabia for the crime of being “too handsome.”

This is certainly an uncommon criminal accusation, but one that we can relate to (some of our writers are banned in 26 countries for the opposite reason).

The three men were manning a booth representing the UAE at a cultural event in the Saudi capital city of Riyadh when the Saudi Mutaween (“religious police”) stormed the UAE booth and carried the men off, with women in the crowd presumably fainting left and right due to their sheer handsomeness.

Apparently, the Mutaween feared that women attending the event were likely to “fall in love” with the three men, prompting the arrest and forced deportation.

We can only assume that Brad Pitt is banned entirely from entering the country and that his face is covered by mosaic in all of his films in the Middle Eastern nation.

In this electronic age, it's not safe to be naked anywhere else, even in locker rooms." But her hesitation isn't due to a lack of confidence. "I've been in the business a long time, so it didn't really faze me. I was completely comfortable."

Tisdale brought her mother to her nude shoot. "I've always wanted to be sure my parents approve of what I do," she says. "Even with my tattoos, my mom went with me. The 'believe' tattoo is because my mom always told me to believe." The High School Musical and Hellcats actress does six workouts a week, rotating a boot-camp class, cardio, strength training, and Spinning, but disrobing was actually much less about showing off her hard-earned shape than it was about growing up. "I'm 25, almost 26, but people think of me as much younger because I look young," she says. "Being in this shoot was me saying, 'I'm not just the young girl everybody thinks I am. I'm actually a woman.'"

Cuoco confesses, "I have not told my family about this, and I'll tell you why: Until they see the photos, they won't understand. All a mother or father hears is the word 'naked.' When I told my mom about the shoot, I left out the part about taking my clothes off." The 25-year-old star of The Big Bang Theory says of her preparation for the shoot, "My obsession is yoga, so I was already yogi-ing it every day," she says. "And I did veggies, raw food, and egg whites. So boring!" She was surprised by her own lack of shyness. "I was way more excited than I ever thought I would be. Which made me realize, I'm more comfortable in my own skin than I thought."

Actress Zooey Deschanel has been inadvertently implicated in the Boston Marathon bombings after a news station incorrectly identified the New Girl star as a suspect

Fox News affiliate, Fox 4, displayed a photo of 19-year-old terror suspect Dzokhar Tsarnaev yesterday along with a caption that read "Marathon bombing. He is 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel", E! Online reports.

The TV star was quickly made aware of the error and tweeted a response.

"Whoa! Epic closed captioning FAIL!," Deschanel wrote, linking to a photo of the TV station’s error.

Twitter user Peter Ogburn who informed Deschanel of the incriminating caption then jokingly tweeted the 33-year-old saying “So, you’re saying it wasn’t you?”

Tsarnaev has since been arrested and is currently in hospital under police guard.

Fame really does have a price, research shows.

An analysis of the lives and deaths of almost 1,000 successful people found that pop stars, sportsmen and actors were more likely to die young.

The price of fame equated to up to seven and a half years of life, with military top brass living on average almost eight years longer than sports stars, singers and other performers, a medical journal reports.

The idea that musicians die young has long been a source of fascination, with the deaths of the likes of Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison still fodder for books and films decades later.

Using information from New York Times obituaries, the Australian researchers proved the trio to be far from from the exception to the rule.

They took obituaries published between 2009 and 2011 and pulled out information such as age of death, cause of death and occupation.

It was assumed that those deemed worthy of an obituary in the newspaper had had a successful career.

The analysis showed that performers, including actors and singers, died the youngest.

Their average age of death was 77 years and one month. In contrast, military personal were the longest lived, clocking up 84 years and 8 months, on average.

Sportspeople also fared badly, dying on average at the age of 77 years and 5 months. Writers and other ‘creatives’ weren’t far behind, with an average lifespan of 78 and a half.

In contrast, businesspeople and politicians tended to join army-types in living in to their 80, the article in QJM: An International Journal of Medicine reports.

Early deaths were linked to accidents and infections, including HIV and cancer.

Lung cancer deaths, which the researchers said were an indication of long-term smoking, were most common in those whose career was performance-based.

The study’s authors said that young people considering chasing fame may face the choice of fulfilling their career potential or living longer.

They added that while the results don’t prove anything, they raise some interesting possibilities, from pop stars indulging too much while famous, to them self-medicating afterwards.

Professor Richard Epstein, of St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, said: ‘First, if it is true that successful performers and sports players tend to enjoy shorter lives, does this imply that fame at younger ages predisposes to poor health behaviours in later life after success has faded?

‘Or that psychological and family pressures favouring unusually high public achievement lead to self-destructive tendencies throughout life?

‘Or that risk-taking personality traits maximise one’s chances of success, with the use of cigarettes, alcohol or illicit drugs improving one’s performance output in the short term?

‘Any of these hypotheses could be viewed as a health warning to young people aspiring to become stars.’

Another recent analysis of rock and pop stars found that many of those who died young had been abused when young.

The British researchers said that the trappings of a rock and roll lifestyle may be especially attractive to those who have had an unhappy childhood.

Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon, from the University of Besançon whocarried out the study said: 'Medically, physiologically, anatomically - breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity.'

Bra experts Rigby & Peller, probably not surprisingly, remain unconvinced, claiming : 'Your breasts are composed mainly of fat and tissue and over time they lose elasticity, wearing a bra every day can help prevent stretch marks and sagging.'

And M&S agree. Julia Mercer, Lingerie Fit Expert at M&S says 'The shape of the nation is changing.  Women are getting bigger and the average lingerie size has gone from a 34B to a 36C in the last decade so it’s become more important than ever to wear a bra for both comfort and support.  A good fitting bra can improve your poise and be a real confidence boost.'

The never-before-seen image by celebrated photographer David LaChapelle is expected to fetch between £25,000 and £35,000 when it goes under the hammer as part of The Wild Side of Photography sale.

The colour snap from 2001 features the actress as a 25-year-old throwing back a mane of brunette hair and showing off some of her many tattoos, including a 'Billy Bob' drawing on her arm, a homage to her then husband which has now been erased.

The photograph of the 37-year-old actress will go on sale alongside a black and white print of Angelina and Brad Pitt posing as husband and wife for Steven Klein in 2005.

The black and white image was taken as part of a shoot that the couple appeared in for W magazine before they were officially an item and is expected to to fetch £8,000-12,000.

Both pictures are part of the Contemporary section of the sale that is highlighted by four works by controversial American photographer LaChapelle.

Another striking image by the photographer is the 2009 Berlin Stories work featuring a group of men and women at an imagined debauched 1930s New Year's Eve party.

Christie's claim that this is 'an opportunity for discerning collectors around the world to acquire photographs with remarkable provenance.'

The wider sale features subsections including Woman, In All Her Guises, Into The Wild and Fashion Icons and works by 20th century masters as well as the carefully selected group of contemporary and fashion photographers including Helmut Newton, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Horst P. Horst.

The auction comprises 108 lots with estimates ranging from £1,500 to £70,000 and is expected to realise in the region of £1.5 million.

As part of a new safe-sex initiative, the Swedish Institute for Communicable Disease Control (SMI) on Tuesday launched an app called Provligget, or Test Nooky, allowing you to do just that.

"The focus is on condom use... We're trying to get this issue on the agenda," explained Karin Raagsjoe, who came up for the idea for the app for SMI.

The app allows users to "test sex" with a range of fantasy characters, ranging from a personal trainer, to an unfaithful woman, to a handyman, all portrayed by more or less famous Swedish actors.

Once users make their choice, they are asked if they want to use a condom, and then to record their own moaning and groaning, which is then mixed with the sexually elated voice of their character of choice.

The whole time, messages pop up to ask things like: "Did you know that people who suggest using a condom are seen as confident and considerate?" and "Did you know Swedes are among the worst in the world at using a condom?"

If none of the 11 characters tickle your fancy, you can also choose to send a request to one of your Facebook friends asking if they are up for a test fling.

"The two of you can then mix your voices together," Raagsjoe told AFP, insisting the app was a fun way to raise awareness and get people to visit the www.knulldeluxe.se website, which for instance provides condom-use tips and information on where to get tested for sexually transmittable diseases.

"Swedes are bad at using condoms," she said, pointing out that studies showed that as few as 40 percent of Swedes used protection.

According to SMI, gonorrhoea infections in Sweden increased 13 percent last year compared to 2010, while chlamydia infections were also on the rise and the number of new HIV infections remains stubbornly high, with 465 cases last year.

Raagsjoe said the new app was aimed to get young people thinking and talking about their sex habits.

SAFE SEX CAN BE HEALTHY

"It is really hard to reach this group with the message of condom use," she said, pointing out that young people often don't grasp the dire consequences of risking sex without a condom.

"And people are also a bit shy. In the north we are known for being open about sex, but it is still hard to bring up the issue of using a condom," she said, stressing that "it is very intimate, and it can be hard if you don't make it a habit ... sort of like wearing a bike helmet".

Jackman had been working out at his gym, Gotham Gym, at 600 Washington Street at 8 a.m. when Kathleen Thurston stormed in. She had asked him "We’re getting married, right?" outside the gym, but once inside, she said, “I love you!"

WCBS 2 reports, "Police said Jackman tried to defuse the situation with the stalker. He told Thurston not to touch him. But police said she followed crying and screaming. A gym employee grabbed Thurston, but not before she pulled an electric razor filled with hair out of her waistband and tossed it at Jackman."

Thurston, 47, told the police, “I hated him having those whiskers." (Jackman is working on his upcoming role in the next X-Men movie.) The Post says that Thurston had also approached Jackman's wife and daughter at his daughter's school last month, saying, "I am going to marry your husband."

It also turns out that Thurston, a California native who has three grown children, has been on probation for stalking Jackman in San Francisco (according to the Post, "Jackman took out a restraining order against Thurston after that, and Saturday’s arrest is a violation of that order, sources said"). Thurston told police, per the criminal complaint, "I was at his daughter’s school. I went to his gym this morning. I want to marry him. This is not against the law. It is not against the law to have two wives.... “I was very impressed with ‘X-Men 2,’ so I started e-mailing him." Thurston's 21-year-old daughter Kalianna spoke to the Post:

    “The first time was last fall, I think. She got in trouble for hanging out outside of his apartment. They hospitalized her — I do know that — and then they sent her back here [to California],” Kalianna said.

    She said her mom denied that the reason she was going to New York — most recently by bus — was to search for Jackman.

    “About two months ago, my mom announced she was going back to New York. We got in a huge argument — I said, ‘You’re going back to stalk Hugh Jackman! ‘And she looked me dead in the eye and said, “You don’t know that,’” Kalianna recalled.

    “My mother has a very high IQ and is very manipulative. But she is sick and she doesn’t listen to the doctors. She can go from being completely lucid to totally crazy in seconds.”

Jackman also told 1010 WINS, "I suppose for me, the primary concern is my family, obviously,"and his neighbors hope for the best for him, "They are very nice, him and his wife. They’re just really nice. I can’t say enough.”

PITTSBURGH -- A Pittsburgh man has been accused of cutting a line waiting to get free cakes from the Cake Boss and stealing four of them.

Hundreds of people were waiting Tuesday morning in downtown Pittsburgh to get the free cakes from the star of the Hoboken, N.J.-based TV show "Cake Boss," Buddy Valastro.

Police spokeswoman Diane Richard says William Davenport took four cakes worth about $27 each from a storage area. Police say when they stopped Williams he apologized for stealing the cakes and admitted he was intoxicated.

Police say the cake theft caused a great commotion among people who had been waiting in line for hours. Officers had to break up fights caused by other people who tried to jump the line.

No attorney for Williams is listed in court papers.

Tihana Nemcic wants to be treated just like any other head coach. The 24-year-old Nemcic, a former Croatia women's international and part-time model, just happens to be getting more attention than usual.

That's because she has taken over as coach of a Croatian men's football team - fifth division side NK Viktorija Vojakovac.

Nemcic, a former club player in Croatia, graduated in July from the country's Sporting University. Since taking over at NK Viktorija Vojakovac, she has asserted herself as the one in charge - not the center of a media stunt.

'I am the head coach and I have full liberty to create and plan the team's tactics,' Nemcic said. 'If a woman and a man have the same professional qualifications for a coaching job, I see no reason why I should not get into male football.'

The team is currently eighth in the 16-team league standings with four points after one win, one loss and one draw.

Tihomir Jagusic, one of of the club's players, described Nemcic as 'very good, focused and serious during training'.

'We listen to her,' Jagusic said. 'She is very strict at training.'

Nemcic got interested in the sport when she used to follow her boyfriend to training.

'I was watching him play, how he played... and then I started to play myself and it has become part of me to this very day,' she said. 'This is a big challenge for me. I have had some experience with kids, but with men's teams - no.'

Nemcic is finding life as a coach very different from her days as a player.

'When you are a player, you worry only about yourself and your personal performance,' she said. 'Now, when I am a coach, I have to think about more players. But both jobs are equally nice. Both have ups and downs.'

Nemcic, who was among 15 finalists for the beauty title of Croatia Miss Sport in 2008, does face a particular challenge in coaching the men.

'We have a rule,' she said. 'Boys go in to change. When they are finished, one of them comes out and calls me in. I would never put myself in the situation to walk in on them inside the dressing room.'
