GENEVIEVE NNAJI ACCEPTS ₦100,000,000 DEAL FROM ETISALAT?! SEE THE ETISALAT COMMERCIAL!!

Genevieve Nnaji

Hakeem Kae Kazim and Genevieve Nnaji

A Television station in France stated that they only pay Genevieve Nnaji $1,500 per roll in a Nollywood movie. Everyone on the show laughed out loud. Come-to-find-out, it was only a 10mins walk-on role and she only spent a total of three hours on set for the entire movie. Filmmakers know three hours is not even enough time to set up the camera, talk-less of shooting an entire film. It is unfortunate the French do not know the authority, respect, and pay grade Genevieve Nnaji is on today. I wonder if they have heard about Genny’s recent deal with Etisalat?!

Fantastic news and a major breakthrough for the entire Nollywood industry! Genevieve Nnaji closes a ₦100,000,000 deal with Etisalat! She stars alongside Hollywood Superstar Hakeem Kae Kazeem in the official Etisalat commercial. To celebrate, Genny is spotted on a yacht sponsored by Etisalat!

Click the YouTube videos below to watch the full gossip!

You are listening to the NOLLYWOOD SPOTLIGHT SHOW on Nollywood Radio France with Rebeccah Monyie and Cyprian Josson.

Starring: Laura K. Crisp

The question to you is this: Do you think Genevieve deserves the ₦100,000,000 deal? If not, who should have gotten it?

For those who do not know, “GIAMA” stands for the “Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards”. This respected event celebrates and promotes the best of African entertainment on the continent of Africa. Merely two years old, the GIAMA has been dubbed the most recognized African affair in North America, showcasing the best of African Arts to the Hollywood community.

Immediately after the internet leak of the provocative move to up prices for GIAMA tickets, Nollywood Spotlight caught up with the C.E.O and founder of the prestigious event. We were given a brief interview with the very busy Bode Ojo (Founder and C.E.O of the GIAMA and the Golden Icons Magazine). Without hesitation, he confirmed that the entire board members of the award ceremony agreed to increase the price for tickets beginning September 30th 2013. This was due to the increase in demand for seats at the award ceremony. He went on to say the reason for the delay was also to allow early-birds ample time to purchase their tickets at a lower price. He urged everyone to purchase their tickets now before the sudden price increase!

Mr. Ojo also confirmed the attendance of several A-List Nollywood superstars to be present at the mega event. In addition, he confirmed he only awaits a few other airline itineraries, then a full list of Nollywood/ Hollywood star attendees will be made available to the public on the GIAMA website. “However, it is no secret that Ramsey Nouah will be hosting this prestigious event and the highly respected Richard Mofe Damijo (R.M.D) is scheduled to be one of the special guests of honor at the GIAMA” says the C.E.O and founder.

BREAKING NEWS!! LEGENDARY HOLLYWOOD “WARNER THEATER” AGREES TO HOSTS THE 3RD ANNUAL NOLLYWOOD AFRICAN FILM CRITICS AWARDS (NAFCA)?!

An Exciting New Story!

SEE FULL PICTURES RIGHT BELOW THE SURVEY.

Since the 1940s, Warner Theater has showcased Hollywood at its finest. In 1992, the legendary American musician and actor Frank Sinatra performed Live at the theater. The theater also hosts the BET (Black Entertainment Television) award annually. The BET award has the largest “African American” fan base in the United States.

Africans in Africa as well as those in diaspora know that Nollywood is making an aggressive effort to be recognized as a powerful and valid contributor to the film industry. Nollywood has rapidly grown from its parent country Nigeria, to its neighboring African countries. In recent years, Nollywood is also seen moving across Europe and African films are being filmed in countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, and even Asia.

With positive progression in the African movie industry, it has come to attention of many that good work should be recognized and rewarded both in Africa and overseas. A special attention should especially be giving to films positively representing authentic and evolving contemporary African culture. One of the master minds who stood up to the challenge overseas is Dr. Victor Olatoye. The “Nollywood African Film Critics” (NAFC) team headed by Dr. Victor Olatoye, approached the legendary Hollywood Warner Theater owned by the famous Warner Brothers concerning the hosting of the 3rd Annual NAFCA. Through hard work and dedication by the NAFC, the Theater agreed to host one of the biggest events in North America celebrating authentic African culture and Arts!

In light of this tremendous achievement by the “Nollywood African Film Critics, Nollywood Spotlight interviewed the President and CEO of NAFCA, Dr. Victor Olatoye.

Nollywood Spotlight: What is the NAFCA?

Dr. Victor Olatoye : NAFCA is the Nollywood & African Film Critics' Award, also known as the African Oscars. This award is an accolade bestowed by the Nollywood Film Critics USA (the official movie review organization for Nollywood and African films) to recognize excellence of professionals in the African film industry. It is also an honorary award to honor humanitarians, dignitaries, and government official who have positively impacted the lives of citizens. The coveted and prestigious Nollywood & African Film Critics' Award is one of the most prominent award ceremony honoring the African cinema. It is also the only awards to boast of African movie stars from around the world in North America. Nollywood & African Film Critics' Award is designed to promote African Cinema, music and culture worldwide. The prestigious Nollywood & African Film Critics' Awards (African Oscars) are awards of merit and are considered the highest U.S.A. based awards.

Nollywood Spotlight: Who are the founders and CEO of the NAFCA?

Dr. Victor Olatoye: Myself and Troy McNish as well as others on the board of directors. We are also currently conducting interviews with a number of successful business executives who have shown interest in our organization.

Nollywood Spotlight: How do you think Europe currently views Nollywood?

Dr. Victor Olatoye: Europe is joining what I call the “Nollywood Express” I think. Now there are online French publications dedicated to Nollywood, that tells you something right there. It tells you they are hungry for our movies and would want to know about our culture through films. All we have to do from this point onward is to continue to produce quality films and tell compelling stories. I mean stories that would not make you want to slap yourself or turn the T.V off, if you know what I mean? This might be the perfect opportunity to produce some films in French (voice over). The whole world is talking about Nollywood so Europe by analogy cannot be the only exception.

Nollywood Spotlight: What part does the NAFCA play in the re-branding of Nollywood abroad?

Dr. Victor Olatoye: NAFCA is not only re-branding Nollywood abroad we are also doing that at home and throughout Africa. How is this possible? NAFCA does it through our movie reviews, through our newsletters and through Nollywood & African Film Critics’ Awards. I must tell you my sister, if we do not bring credible awards to the Diaspora; the people out here of different cultural backgrounds would not come looking for us and our films. (Unless they have something to gain financially then they might show up). Also I am a firm believer that if we do not tell our own stories someone else will tell them for us and we all know how "accurately" those have been turning out for centuries. NAFCA is primarily set up to recognize excellence of professionals in the African film industry but we also have one of the most credible honorary awards to honor humanitarians, dignitaries, and government official who have positively impacted the lives of citizens. Why is that important? If you honor people who are going beyond the call of duty to impact people’s lives positively, you will possibly encourage others to join what I call the “Do Good Express”. This year we are adding a special NAFCA award, “The Patriot Award” and that is for African business leaders and Africans who have made Mama Africa proud in the Diaspora and at home.

Part of re-branding Nollywood and Africa is the fact that we will be joining other great events that have performed at the legendary Warner Theater. On September 14 we will become the first African Movie award to sign the Guest Book at the Warner Theater. Just to tell you a little bit about the legendary Warner Theater: On August 12, 1943, the movie "This is the Army" premiered there. In 1945, the theater began showing movies exclusively. The theater was renamed in 1947 in honor of its owner, Harry Warner one of the founders of Warner Brothers. In 1992, Frank Sinatra performed there. In 2007, it was the venue for the first annual Library of Congress Gershawin Prize for Popular Song and the recipient of the first Gershwin Prize was Paul Simon. The theater is also home to The BET Honors ceremony, held annually.

For this legendary Warner Theater to agreed to host the 3rd Nollywood and African Film Critics’ Awards also known as the African Oscars on the 14th of September 2013 is history in the making as this is the first African film award to be held at this legendary American Theater. This year’s award will be our biggest to date and with a long list of VIP guests from all works of life to grace this historic occasion, including A list African movie stars, Hollywood stars, Ambassadors, political figures, musicians, dignitaries and over 1700 Nollywood fans from across the globe. Our guest will witness the honoring of noble men and women of Africa as we present them with the coveted golden NAFCA trophies. Warner Theater seats about 1900 people and we are just as excited as the people at the Warner Theater and it is an honor to become part of the Warner Brothers history.

The question to you is this:

BREAKING NEWS! MERCY JOHNSON MAY NEVER ACT AGAIN?!

An Electrifying New Story:

Mercy Johnson

Right alongside the Kim Kardashians’ and the Beyoncés’ of Hollywood, Mercy Johnson joins the Nollywood baby boom. Mrs. Okojie’s baby is now 1 month old! M.J. opens up to fans on twitter about her fulfillment as a mother but mentions nothing about her getting back to work any time soon.

Mercy Johnson and baby Purity Okojie

“I have given my life to him, nothing matters to me but him and our child, even if I take my last breath at his feet then I am fulfilled” Mercy Johnson on Bella Naija

Purity Okojie

Nollywood critics are beginning to worry that they may never see Mercy Johnson on screen again. History of marriage in Nollywood proves that husbands who marry Nollywood A-Listers end up divorcing their wives to keep away prying eyes. This leaves one to believe that if the cause of Mercy’s prior enthusiastic pursuit in the film industry was to make money, then we really may never see her in new film productions again?!

Mercy Johnson and Hubby Prince Okojie

It is in the open and the world can see it, Prince Odianosen Okojie is taking good care of his wife and child both physically and financially. So the question to you is this: When the time comes for her to decide, Should Mercy Johnson permanently quit her lifelong dream career to save her marriage?

About Uche Monye

Some people are born great, some fight their way to greatness. This is a very old popular saying that is widely accepted. I never knew the true meaning of that powerful statement until I began to go through things in life. This is not another piece of fiction, but my true life story.

I am an Actor, a Digital Photographer, TV Presenter, MC, an Events Planner, and a Youth ambassador. I was born in Anoicha; south of Delta State of Nigeria. I had my Primary school, Secondary school and University Education in which I Graduated with a B.S in (HONS) Human Kinetics and Health from UNILAG, all in Lagos State.

My Acting Career started while in Second year at the University. My first major movie Production was at a Church and it was a Live stage drama. That day, it was as if the world was watching me. I tried my best and it landed me my first Nollywood role in a movie titled “Breaking Heart”. After that movie, I got the boldness and fighting spirit to attend Movie auditions, and I went almost everywhere. If I heard audition was taking place anywhere, I would go! On this lucky day, I was picked to play a Lead Character in a TV series named “Heard Mending” which was aired on DSTV in Africa. That gig allowed me to earn some pretty awesome cash as a student in college. After “Heard Mending”, I got another opportunity to feature in some other TV series & Nollywood Movies like “Adventure of Caesar”, “Dear Mother”, “Tinsel”, “Broken Down Altar”, “Spirit of the Last Days”, “Hero in Me”, “Royal Wealth”, “Victims”, “Judas game”, “Tatoo Girls”, “The King and the Princess”, “Painful Victory”, “Bloody Carnival”, and “Complex Lie”. I also got an opportunity to act in my first Hollywood movie “ASSASSIN’S PRACTICE”, which was produced by Andrew Ukoko /Dele Ajakaiye .

My mission is to inspire effectiveness and peak performance in youth's, by living a life of Service and Integrity. I also believe that NIGERIA can & will WORK for its people. As a Passionate Youth Leader, I volunteer myself to Various Community Development Initiatives that specifically concentrates their energy on the reformation of the Nigerian economy.

So let's get on with it. WELCOME! Truly is a pleasure to meet you!
